How do I draw a line in SME?

To draw a line, do not click the mouse and hold it. Click and release to begin the line and click and release to end the line.

  • The mouse pointer changes from an arrow to a hand when the pointer appears over a clickable spot.
  • Draw the line only once. If the same line is drawn twice, click Erase and start again.
  • Click a point only once. If the same point is clicked twice, click Erase and start again.

How do I enroll a new student into SME v.1.7.1?

  1. In the classroom, click the laptop computer to view the User Selector list.
  2. Select the name of your group by clicking on it one time.
  3. Click the desk drawer.
  4. Click the User folder.
  5. When the New Registration Form appears you also need to add your new student to the grade level group. You should see the name  of your group listed under the Group List in the New Registration Form window. In the User Selector Windows, click one time on the grade level group to select it (for example: 0052-ALL-03). Then click on the Add Group button on the New Registration Form. The new student will now be in your classroom group and the grade level group as shown in the Group list.
  6. Type in the student's registration data. Please remember to add the student 10-digit Florida ID number in the Student ID box. This is t he number that allows the student data from SuccessMaker Enterprise to be matched with the student FCAT scores. Also, the username for each student is his/her lunch number and the password is the mmyyyy of the student birthday.
  7. Leave user type as student.
  8. Click OK if finished.
  9. The Information Folder for the student will appear.
  10. Click the X in the upper right corner to close the Information Folder.


How to View and Print a Report in SuccessMaker Enterprise:
 
1.      In the classroom, click the laptop computer to view the User Selector list.

2.      Select the name of the group by clicking once to highlight.

3.      Click the printer.

4.      The Report Select screen appears.

5.      Click the radio button next to the report category you wish to print (i.e. Enrollment Check, Last Session, Performance Percentage, Cumulative Performance, Course, Grouping by Areas of Difficulty, or Prescriptive Scheduling)

6.      Select the course for which you wish to print a report (i.e. Math Concepts and Skills 2 or Reader’s Workshop) or choose the All Courses report.

7.      Click View Options (do not click View Report).

8.      The Report Options screen appears.

9.      Click View if no changes to the options will be made.  If you desire to make changes to the Report Options, make your changes.

10.  Click View.

11.  After a few moments, a window displays the report.

12.  Click the maximize button (the box in between the __ and the X in the upper right corner) to increase the size of the report display.

13.  Click the arrows to view any additional pages.

14.  To print, click the small printer.  To save to your computer, click the picture of the disc.

15.  Click the X to close the report and return to the classroom.
 
How to Print Worksheets in SuccessMaker Enterprise:

  1. Log into SMe with your username and password.
  2. Click on Teacher Interface.
  3. Double Click on the books on the bookshelf on the right side.
  4. Click in the circle next to Worksheets.
  5. Click OK.
  6. HEADER: You can type a title here, but it is not necessary.
  7. COURSE: On the drop down arrow, choose Reader’s Workshop or Math Concepts & Skills 2.
  8. EXERCISES: Type in the number of exercises (questions) you want the class to have. You can go as low as 1 or as high as 50 exercises. Twenty is standard.
  9. Strand/Level: This defaults to Current. It is strongly advised to leave it here because it will give the student questions on what he/she is currently doing in the system whether the skill needs more tutoring or whether the skill is one that the student knows. Each worksheet will be different for each student.
     
    You can choose Other. Then, you will need to pick a strand and a level. This will only give you questions on this particular strand and level. Each worksheet will be the same for every student.
     
    You can choose Lowest. This will generate a different worksheet for each student with questions from his/her lowest strand in the course.
     
  1. Answer Sheets: For Teacher, go to the drop down arrow, and choose All Exercises so that the answers will be printed for the teacher for each student’s worksheet.
  2. Click Add on the bottom left.
  3. Go to the drop down arrow next to No Group Selected. Choose your group.
  4. Click on the first student. Hold your Shift key down, and click on the last student. This should have highlighted all your students.
  5. Click OK. The students’ names should appear on the bottom of the Worksheet screen.
  6. Click Print.
     
     
    Each student will receive a worksheet with his/her name on the top left hand side.
     
    You cannot view the worksheet before it is printed.
     
    Answer keys are printed at the end.

Waterford FAQ's

How do I add New Students into Waterford:

Click the Set Up Classes drawer.

In the Class Tree, select the class you want to add a student to.

Click the Set Up Students tab.

Click the New Student button.

Enter the necessary information in the following fields:

First Name—Enter the first name of the student.

Last Name—Enter the last name of the student.

Preferred Name—This field automatically contains the student’s first name. If the student prefers to be called by another name, enter that name.Tip The preferred name is used to teach students their names. The preferred name also appears on the login screen each day and on all printouts. For more information on teaching students their names, see Waterford Early Reading Program™ Level One Lessons and Resources.

Student ID—Enter the student identification number if your school uses Student ID numbers.

Date of Birth—(MM/DD/YYYY) Enter the student’s birth date.Tip You can either enter the date manually or use the calendar icon to select a date.

Grade—Choose the grade level from the drop-down list.

Primary Language—Choose the student’s primary language from the drop-down list.
If the student will be absent for an extended period of time, click the Mark student inactive box and the student will not be called to a computer until the box is unchecked.

Click the appropriate Gender and Ethnicity box.

Click Save.

The student will appear in the Class Tree.

YOU MUST ASSIGN THE NEW STUDENT THE READING PROGRAM IN ORDER FOR THEM TO USE THE PROGRAM! Follow the directions below in order to do this.

Assigning a Level Manually

Click the Set Up Classes drawer.

Select a class, group, or student in the Class Tree.
 

Click the Choose Curriculum tab.

From the list of courses, select the program you want to assign.

To the right of the course list, click the box that indicates that the program will run.

Blue X marks will appear next to courses you have assigned.Tip You may notice blue X marks appearing next to other courses as well. When you assign certain Waterford programs, some courses that complement those programs are assigned automatically.

Complete the following fields:

Time—The default time that a course will run per session is automatically displayed. If you want a time different than the default, enter the amount of time in minutes the student will spend on this course each day.

Total Session Time—The default time that the student will be on the computer each day is automatically entered. If you want a session time different than the default, enter the amount of time in minutes.Tip You cannot adjust the session time for Mouse and More. You also cannot adjust the time for any course below its minimum session time because that is the minimum amount of time necessary for the course to be effective.

If you are assigning Waterford Early Reading Program, move the slider to the level you want to assign.

If you are assigning Wateford Early Reading Program Level One, select whether you want to teach capital or lowercase letters first.

Click Save.
